Another poem…. in overall reflection on the #metoo and Times up movements in the United States (and parts of the world) as well as ongoing struggles towards justice for all those who bear God’s Image. There are several evaluations of the movement within the US. I hope that it’s more than a moment or movement… for…it’s generations past time.
Turning
If this is a moment of turning
Where the sacred heads
Of the too long silenced
Beaten
And bruised
Rise up
Above the surface
So you cannot help but see
It will be because the
Crys of the multitudes
Time after time
Rose up
Such a fervour
That
Quaking the ground
The earth
could no longer contain their
Pain
Creation
Over and over
Asking “oh God when ?!”
And so they cracked
And swayed and
Broke
The
Grief-tomb
Of the earth
Open
(torn wide open)
Shouting:
“Resurrection morning
Is now!
Time’s up!”
And
Releasing the stories
Once held in
And finally oxygen rushing in
Let loose
The loud tomb-cry
The Justice-Tremor of this generation
Saying:
“We will never go back
Down
Now now now
Up
Out
Free!”
